The third guitar regularly used by Francis is very often affectionately referred to as the "Whatever You Want" guitar.

Serial number "L57781" dates this guitar as the oldest of the three used by Francis, probably from May/June 1964.

The story of this one is similar to the others:

- The original bridge was replaced with a tune-o-matic and fixed tailpiece (a "trapeze" tailpiece in this case - look for the diamond on early photographs).

- Then in the early 1990s a set of Lace Sensor pickups was introduced.

- 1995 saw the addition of a G&L bridge unit.

- More recently, a "Cool Rails" pickup has been slotted in to the neck-position, and Graphtec guides introduced to the headstock.

However, there are some interesting differences from the "Main" and "Down Down"

The guitar body is made from Alder, and the neck has a rosewood "slab" finger board.

There's no famous Rossi "hole" through the body on this beauty, and Francis "finished" the guitar in the same green front, back and sides.

He clearly didn't bother to remove the tailpiece when painting the body, since you can quite clearly see where it was positioned now that the G&L unit is in place!

Tony produces replicas of this guitar in both his "Tony Rocket Custom" (i.e. completely hand made to order) and "Finesse" ranges. This page includes some great pictures of both.

Tony can create a replica of this guitar in any of its past configurations, in both of his ranges.

Finally, a huge "thank you" to Cyndy (a.k.a. "Pepsip" from the Quo message board) for allowing us to use some of her fantastic photographs of Francis playing this guitar on this page! Cyndy, your pictures are truly awesome!
