Francis Rossi 'Down Down' Guitar
![]() |
This page details another replica of the Francis Rossi 'Down
Down' guitar. Details of the 'real thing' can be found another page. The guitar shown below was hand made by Tony for me two years ago. Although based on the DD guitar, I asked if my guitar could be made 'as new', and Tony duly obliged! I kept a photographic record of the guitar being made, and you can view the pictures I took on this link. As with all of his guitars, Tony made use of carefully selected wood to make the body and neck. I was able to choose a body from a batch that he had made, and picked one with what I'm sure you will agree has a stunning grain pattern. The neck has been made just as they were back in the 1960s, and is a total dream to play. |
| The pictures below show off the details, which include the curved finger board and perfectly spaced (and sized) position dots. | |

Tony has used three 'finishes' on this guitar
to faithfully recreate the original. The 'lime' green front matches Rossi's perfectly. A darker green has been used for the side. A clear lacquer on the back mirrors the bare sanded back of the original. And check out that gorgeous curved rosewood fingerboard! |
