Replicas... Finesse
| (last update 29th July 2008) | ||
|
Tony produces a 'Finesse' range, which are guitars assembled and finished using part-made necks and part-made bodies. This range also includes copies of the Quo guitars, which are featured on this page. All of Tony's Finesse guitars cost under £500! |
||
| Says Tony: 'Hi again to Rita and Lee, and thanks for your second order! Am really pleased you liked the Finesse copy of Francis's guitar. Lee's next guitar is to be a Finesse copy of one Rossi's other 'greenies', the guitar he uses during the song 'Whatever You Want'. Its to be the 'Lace Sensor/Tune-o-matic' configuration, so watch these pages for pictures!' | ||

| Note that the body is shown before it has been aged. Once complete it will have all the same marks, dents and 'dings' that Rossi has on his! | Tony uses Lace Sensor look-a-like humbucker pickups for the Finesse copies of Francis's guitar. | |

The bridge on the left is the Hipshot used by Fender on the Francis Rossi signature guitar. The bridge on the right is a G&L saddle lock bridge, which is the actual bridge that Francis uses and also what Tony uses on his Custom replicas. The bridge in the centre is a Mighty-Mite and is used on Tony's Finesse Rossi replicas. Explains Tony: 'With each G&L bridge costing over £100 to import from the USA its just not possible to use these on my cheaper Finesse guitars. But I was keen to use a quality bridge, which also retained the look of a G&L. The Mighty-Mite fits the bill perfectly in my opinion.' |

As well as replicas of the famous two main Quo guitars, Tony also produces copies of all the other guitars used by the band in his Finesse range. The picture on the left shows one example: A replica of the green guitar used by Francis Rossi during the song 'Whatever You Want'. This particular guitar is a copy of the guitar after it was fitted with the three 'Lace Sensor' pickups, but before the G&L bridge was added (circa 1991). Click here for more amazing pictures of this guitar - again, all this guitar for under £500! |
|
| (*) Says Tony: 'I have chosen this type of truss rod access for my entry level guitars simply to make the setup of the guitar easier for the player. Of course it is not correct for a Quo replica, but this type of truss rod access is generally expected on modern guitars. Customers should also note that the position markers are not located correctly for exact Quo replicas either, but if you're interested in an exact replica then you need to invest in a Tony Rockett Custom guitar. That said however, you should note that the Rossi Finesse replicas carry a two piece maple neck, which is absolutely key for any copy of this guitar.' | ||
